The final
Le Mans Series race of 2008 takes place at Silverstone this weekend and
in GT1, the 72 Corvette of Luc Alphand Aventures heads the class, but
still with everything to play for. Corvette
Racing UK are on hand to bring you all the action with all the news, reviews and the latest photos from Silverstone.
With
GT1 set to be phased out in favour of an expanded GT2 category (ACO
announcement on Saturday),
the meager entry of just 4 cars never the less leaves us with
another Corvette vs Aston battle for the Championship and with the
Lamborghini Murcielago R-GT
ready to mix things up. |
While out
of contention for Class victory, the IPB Spartak Racing Lamborghini has
a point to prove having showed much potential this season, but
having yet failed to deliver the goods at the flag. With
the two Aston's bringing in the big guns with the likes of Darren Turner
and Tomas Enge on board, the sole C6-R will have a fight on its hands.

While
the morning practice session was overcast but dry, the rain came with a vengeance
for the afternoon session. Both Aston teams opted to keep their cars in
the pits, managing under 5 laps between them in the hour long session
which was red flagged on a number of occasions. The Lamborghini however
seemed happy to play and was rewarded with the fastest GT1 time in the
wet, while the C6-R seemed content to be working with set ups and was a frequent
visitor to the pits.

With
the third and final practice session being held early on Saturday, the
teams head in to a short 20 minute qualifying session at 1.15pm. The race
gets under way at 11.20am on Sunday morning and runs for either 1000kms or
six hours.
Spotted
in the pits on Friday was this rather tasty
Luc Alphand
Z06 and a chap called Oliver Gavin....
Other non driving motor sport names seen wandering around the pits on Friday were
the likes of Andy Wallace, Hugh Chamberlain and Neil Cunningham, so you can
sense 2009 is very much on people's minds - so it will be a very
interesting weekend for many reasons!
