Heavy rain, winds and hail saw Atomic stay tucked up next to the house
for the first 48 hours after arrival, but at 7am today the neighbours must have had final proof of their belief of my insanity as I started to wash Atomic...in the dark! Time was limited and I had layers of Florida dust, sea salt, road salt and grit to carefully
remove in preparation for her first UK public appearance, in front of
around 75,000 people at the Autosport
International & Pistonheads
Show, at the NEC Arena, Birmingham.
I actually hate washing cars, a negative wind chill and biting British wind tends to disperse any possible enjoyment, but I achieved a very good result which left me happy to have taken so
much time and trouble.
You can, however, always rely on the British weather......to mess things up! Just as I was about to set forth to the Exhibition arena, the heavens opened! Not just a sharp short shower, but a
full blown hour long downpour!
So Atomic was dried off once again and I waited until the last moment to leave in the hope the roads would dry. Needless to say, the back roads were still soaked, so a third wash was required upon arrival!
The part of the show Atomic is in does not start until Friday, although another section opens tomorrow for Autosport Magazine, so the Hall was sparse and looking almost embarrassed in it's naked state.
I didn't have time to look at other cars, but a number of other owners said "Hi" and gushed over Atomic, the engine and performance levels, so I think I will be in for a busy few days!
I took a few quick photos today to cover events, so I hope you like those and I'll start with a few outside her new English
home and the load in at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham.
