Corvette ZO6
The Ultimate
Corvette Global Journey
For me, with 'Atomic' making her first UK public
appearance in front of
around 75,000 people at the Autosport
International & Pistonheads
Show at the NEC Arena, Birmingham, it was going to be very special.
For others, perhaps, she would be 'just another supercar', however....it
appears not!
I wanted to mark this occasion with the first piece of film footage that
will go on to be a part of a documentary diary of our travels and for this
I turned to Dave Sinclair of SinVision
whom I have worked with many times before.
We were able to shoot the short sequence
on the Trade day, so while seminars and meetings took place, with just a
few people looking on, we did the piece to camera which you can see below.
A further video about the show can be seen on the SinVisionwebsite, on this link.
The following day was the first 'Public'
day and the crowds were immense. A constant river of people flowing past
the car all day. In an ideal world, I would have loved to have simply
stood by my pride and joy and chatted to people who expressed an interest
in her as she took her place in the 'Performance Car Paddock', but it was
simply impossible not to be in the way as cameras and videos were constantly
pointed at the car with a polite request to "move aside".
As the 'Atomic's' story spreads, a
few people either sought me out or recognised me as I stood close by and
it was a pleasure to meet and chat to like minded people either current
Corvette owners, looking to purchase or simply fascinated by it all.
It's impossible to say how many images
were captured of her, (perhaps thousands?!) but already I have found many
on the internet, so I am delighted that she made such an impact. There was
a lot of interest in Driving
Adventures and the Global
Sports Car Tours we operate all over Europe and in North America
and we hope to add to the numbers of Corvettes that already join Aston Martin, Ferrari, Jaguar, Lamborghini, Lotus, Porsche &
the TVR models that have already been travelling with us for a number of
years.
The show itself is simply staggering,
both in sheer size and the stunning machinery available for public
viewing. Everything from these historic sports cars, to a more recent Le
Mans winning Jaguar XJR-9 and right up to the modern day with the mouth
watering Koenigsegg CCX. Naturally there are far too many images from the
Show to place onto this page, so please visit Atomic's
Gallery
to see all these and the other photos from
her travels and please feel free to leave a message or any questions in
the Guestbook.
Thank you.
